The ship was fine when it left Belfast..

I can't believe I've already been in the UK for a month. It feels like I just moved into my flat yesterday, but at the same time I feel like I've been living here for months. I haven't done too much that's worth writing about, mostly just going to class, shopping, going to pubs and night clubs, and hanging out with my friends and going to the gym (and I actually think I'm going to come home more fit than when I left which is the complete opposite of what I expected to happen), but this weekend we actually did some touristy things that I felt were worth writing a post about.

On Friday we decided to go to the Titanic Museum. We took the train into Belfast and then walked the rest of the way instead of taking the bus, which was fine at first, but then came the rain. It actually felt like I was in a hurricane with how strong the wind and rain were. Needless to say, my clothes and shoes were soaked by the time we made it to the museum.

The beginning of the museum was a little dry for me because it was mostly about the history of Belfast and their ship-building and linen industry. After we walked through that section it started to get a bit more interesting. The transition from the section to the next was a short ride that brought us through the materials and whatnot used to build the Titanic. The rest of the museum brought us through different aspects of Titanic including the exact fabrics, plates and whatnot used on the ship and how the accommodations looked in the different classes.

The museum is a must-see when visiting Belfast, especially because it's located in the exact spot the Titanic was built which is pretty cool to think about. After the museum we walked over and saw the Big Fish, grabbed a pint from a cute little pub, and then visited one of our French friends who moved to the Ulster accommodations in Belfast (and her flat in Belfast is SO nice!, I'm jealous).

Then yesterday (Sunday) Sarah, Kendyl and I went to St. George's Market which is basically a smaller version of the Big E that happens every weekend Friday-Sunday. There are so many vendors selling such cool things and there is also pretty much any kind of food you could possibly want there. We had crepes and smoothies and they were so good.

I happened to run into Catherine and her boyfriend Stuart at the market as well, and after chatting for a bit they were nice enough to offer to drive us around to some different parts of Belfast that we hadn't seen yet. They took us to the Peace Wall which was really interesting, and we were also lucky that we had them to show us around because they were able to tell us a lot of the history of The Troubles and how the area around the wall used to be.

After that Sarah and I went to Nando's for the second time this week because Kendyl hadn't been yet. Nando's apparently is in America, but only in a handful of select locations. That's one thing I'm going to miss a lot from the UK.

I've also tried some different foods from a couple different cultures because my neighbors are some of the other international students and they cook dinners for us sometimes so I've gotten to try some new things. I also finally learned how to cook something other than eggs and toast!

Olivia, Sarah, Kendyl and I leave for Amsterdam on Thursday so I'll definitely have more to write about soon!
